Giving God the Credit He Deserves
Matthew 5:16 NIV
"In the same way, let your light shine bright before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify you Father in Heaven."
I am a football fanatic. I know the names and characteristics of more players than I care to admit. While I am a loyal Baltimore fan, I want to take a different direction and highlight a player that I had the privilege to, not only watch practice in person his rookie year (seventeen years ago) but watched him make his final snap during this year's post season before retiring. Pittsburg Steeler, Ben Roethlisberger, was not only a good and faithful leader during his time spent as their very successful franchise quarterback, but he has shown the nation that Pittsburg isn't the only entity that he is faithful to. After announcing his retirement to his social media fanbase, he continued by stating, "First and foremost, I need to thank the Lord for all the many blessings he’s bestowed on me," (See bottom for citation). Despite the ups and downs that he was handed throughout his career in the NFL, he has still made it known that the glory for his success is raised up to our Lord.
We all have gifts inside of us. Talents that no one else has. These gifts have been placed within us by the Creator who made us. When he made "Big-Ben," he wove it deep within him that he would be a talented pro-football player. Whether you've found your calling and you're having a hard time taking off, or you're living out your passion, but things are blocking your success. Consider this: Have you tried offering all the glory to God who put that gift inside of you? Years ago, I tried to become an author and blog owner. It never worked out the way I had planned. I was constantly having issues. Why? Because I was doing it for me. I was trying to do it all in my own power and not for the purpose of glorifying the one who put my love for words within me. Once I started giving, not only my wins, but my loses to God, my site took off with ease, and now I'm in the middle of writing two books. When we give all of the credit to the one who gave us our gifts in the first place, we will see God bestow blessings upon us that we would've never seen if we had given ourselves the glory.
