Steadfast Faith=Perfect Peace

Isaiah 26:3 NIV

"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you."

Over the last week, my family and I have been on a bit of a roller coaster. As a result of different medical events, my grandfather can no longer care for himself. While this has been a tough pill to swallow, my concern has been for my grandmother. You see, my grandfather was her caretaker due to her inability to walk well. Being that I live such a distance from her, it makes it hard for me to be up there to help. But, while the walls may be falling around her, my grandmother has not wavered once. Amid trial, not once in my life have I met a woman who is so steadfast in her faith that one would never believe she was going through the storm that she is. This is what she said to me the other day: I said, "Mammy, you are so strong. I can't believe how well you're handling this," and her reply was, "Well, Tay. You know, my company left last night and when I was alone, everything hit me all at once. But I just told myself that everything is going to be okay. That God has a plan and something good will come out of all of this." I was blown away.

Friends, she's right. While we may not all be perfect, while we may not handle every trial the best way, if we just stay planted in the word of the Lord, we can live in perfect peace even when our lives may not seem so peaceful. This takes trust. This takes knowing the word of God and believing that He is faithful and that His plans for our lives will always be for good.

Wherever you are right now, I want to encourage you to open your Bible. Even if you don't know what you're looking for, just flip through the pages. Let the Holy Spirit guide you and speak life into you. Through knowing the word, we may be better able to trust in the promises God has for us. He is FAITHFUL!
