Jesus Our Lord and Friend
Hebrews 4:16 NIV
"Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."
Have you ever walked through a lonely season of life? Maybe you're not physically alone, but even in the presence of people you still feel like you're the only one in the room. I've been there before. It's never easy, especially when you've been raised in a big family and having your people with you brings you much joy. But it's in those seasons of loneliness that God wants us to learn that even though we may feel alone, we're not alone. Whether the room has grown empty around you, or you don't feel as though there is anyone you can turn to at the moment, we can run to Jesus with anything and everything and receive what it is we truly need then and there. The Lord wants us to come to Him when we're troubled and need to let the tears fly. He wants us to come when we're lonely and need a friend to talk to. He wants us to come to Him when we've had a great day and need to spill our excitement out to someone who will share in it. He wants us to come to Him when we need a "rant sesh," as my friends and I call it. Jesus is not only our Lord and Savior, but He is our friend. While people may come and go, and the lonely seasons may be here today and gone tomorrow, Jesus will always be here waiting for us to come to Him. And unlike people, who we rely on for our companionship, Jesus can give us exactly what we need in our moment of need.
