Come and Drink the Living Water

As I sit here writing this thought, I can't help but crave a nice glass of cold ice water, even though it's twenty-five degrees outside. There's nothing more refreshing that sitting down after a long morning of cleaning to a tall glass of cold, clean water. However, when I finish my glass of water, I can't help but crave more an hour or two later. Jesus revealed this truth to a Samaritan woman while sitting at the well on property that once belonged to Jacob (Israel). When He asked her for a drink of water and she questioned him, he taught her that the water in that well would never quench her thirst. That she would have to continue to pull water from this well when she became thirsty. But if she would drink the "living water" He had to offer her, then she would never thirst again.

Though we must drink so much water daily to physically survive, we also need to drink from the living water Jesus offers us in order to spiritually survive. Psalm 63:1 NIV says, "You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. Though we may physically see water running through this earth, there is an absence of living water. In order for us to survive spiritually, we must "earnestly seek" the living water. We must "thirst" and "long" for His living water. If we don't, we will allow this "dry and parched land" we live on to deplete us from our water source. Much like if we didn't drink fresh water daily, we will surely perish.

Have you drank your water today?
