There's a Purpose in Patience
Patience is something I've struggled with for years. My walk with Jesus, however, has made it easier to be patient in times of lack, want or defeat. You see, there's actually a purpose behind our patience; even when we feel we deserve whatever it is we're hoping for right now. God has a map of everything that will happen in our lives, and he knows when we will be ready for things to change. Right now, you might be praying for a promotion, praying for healing, praying for that new car or to build your dream house. You don't see why things aren't working out for you, and you may even feel defeated. But whatever you do, don't get discouraged; just be patient.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV says, "there's a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." God has a purpose for your life, and usually what we have planned for our lives lacks in comparison to his plan. We must go through seasons of hardship, abundance and even waiting in order to be prepared for the big things we're hoping for. Patience is important because, if we just skip through the seasons God's mapped out for us, then we will never be able to learn the lessons that come with each season. These lessons are what will prepare us for the greater things we are praying for.
