When You've Fallen in a Mud Puddle
Isaiah 41:13 NIV
"For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, 'Do not fear; I will help you.' "
Since the weather has taken a turn for the better over the past week, my family and I have taken advantage of getting to go outside. Right off of our back porch, where the girl's swing set sits, lays pretty wet. It's rained quite a bit, so there are puddles everywhere. My youngest daughter loves Peppa Pig, and one of Peppa's favorite thing to do is jump in muddy puddles. Likewise, my tiny tot is a fan of puddles. One day, she took off eagerly for the puddles (and well prepared in her Peppa Pig gum boots). In the blink of an eye, she had gone from happily splashing to flat on her butt in a cold, wet puddle. When I got to her, fear and distress filled her eyes as she began to cry. Naturally, I reached out my arms to pick her up and help her from the turmoil she had just endured. On her own, she would've struggled to get up out of that cold, muddy puddle. However, with the help of her momma, she was scooped up out of the mess she was in unharmed and a little wet.
Not only is God our God, but he is our Father in Heaven. While some of us were blessed with great parents, others may have not been shown the love and compassion that a parent is supposed to show their child. Nevertheless, our Heavenly Father wants to show love and compassion for us. Whether you're faced with adversity, struggling with life in general, or have fallen in a muddy puddle, God is right there with you holding out his hand saying, "don't be afraid, just take my hand and it will all be fine." Wouldn't it be amazing if deep down in our hearts we knew and believed that God is right there through it all watching and waiting to step in with a helping hand? Because he is! And always will be! All you have to do is reach out and grab it.
