Rejoice Like It's a Wedding Celebration

Isaiah 61:10 NIV

"I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."

I can remember my wedding day like it was just yesterday. Though it's been several years since I walked down the aisle, I can easily call to mind the preparations we had made for this big day. In my younger years, I loved anything blingy and bedazzled, and conveniently, the wedding set my husband had purchased for me was very sparkly. In going with the theme, I picked a dress embossed with (artificial) jewels and jewelry to match. My veil was also embellished with rhinestones in coordinating with the rest of my attire. My husband, who I had never seen in anything other than blue jeans and a flannel our entire relationship, was cleaned up in a suit a tie. It was such an extraordinary occasion for, not only the two of us, but our family and friends who stood as joyful witnesses to us coming together as one in Christ.

As we all probably know, a wedding is meant to be a day of rejoicing that the Lord has brought two people together in Holy Matrimony, followed by a reception celebration. Likewise, we should rejoice in the Lord and celebrate like it's a wedding celebration daily because of his love for us. The scripture tells us that, like a bride and groom are dressed up on their wedding day, the Lord dresses us every day in his salvation and righteousness. We have been set apart from those who have not chosen the path of the righteous, therefore we shall rejoice in the Lord for all that he has done in our lives. For his favor resides on us, and like the attire of those on their wedding day, we are decked out in his glorious gifts!

Have you accepted the gift of Christ's salvation and strive for righteousness ever day? If so, are you wearing these garments joyously praising the Lord? Or have you hung them up out of fear of others judging you?
