The Battle's Been Won
1 John 5:4 NIV
"... for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith."
Shootings, violent protests, promotion of sin, and corruption. It kind of sounds like today's world. But in reality, things have always been this way. Things have always been rough. Satan's presence always seems to be more amplified than God's. And most commonly, when you-know-what hits the fan, the world asks, "Well, where was God? If God was real, then why didn't He stop this?" Well, here's my question to the unbelievers: Where's your faith? It's so easy to see the ugly in the world. Everywhere we turn, we're presented with Satan's destruction. But if we have faith, then we know that this world, though it tends to be corrupt, ugly, and vulgar, is just a stopping place on our journey back to God.
You see, our world is ruled by Satan, but our lives don't have to be. And with faith, we know that no matter what he tries to do, Christ has already won the battle against evil on our behalf. Because we are born of God, baptized by the spirit, and washed in the blood of the lamb, we share in that victory over the enemy. So, despite the ugly going on in this world, if we remain in our faith and trust the Lord, then we cannot lose this battle. Why? Because the battle has already taken place and Jesus won! And the day is coming when Jesus will throw Satan into the burning lake of sulfur with the rest of the evil that lurks on this earth, finishing him off once and for all.
