God Don't Lie

Luke 1:37 NIV

"For no word from God will ever fail."

"How can I put my trust in a God that I can't see when I can't even count on the people that I can see?" This thought regularly crossed my mind, especially in my season of hiding from God. I wanted more than anything to put my trust in God. To be able to count on someone greater when all the others lied to me, let me down, and even walked away. I'd like to think I'm speaking for many of us out there when I say this. It doesn't matter if we're an outsider to the faith or a devout Christian, sometimes it's hard to give all of our trust over to God because of the way people have failed us in the past. But I want to reassure you that God doesn't do to us the way that the world does. He is a good God. He is a faithful God. And He WILL bring what He has promised to pass.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, witnessed God's faithful word come to pass when the angel Gabriel met her and told her that she would become pregnant and give birth to the Messiah. Not only that, but he emphasized God's faithfulness to Mary when he revealed to her that her cousin Elizabeth was in her sixth month of pregnancy despite her old age and years of barrenness. Elizabeth later gave birth to John the Baptist, whom Jesus said in Matthew 11:11 was the greatest to rise among men and women. Friends, when God says He's going to do something, He does it. And though there may be times that we ask, and He doesn't reciprocate in the way we had planned, we must remember that it doesn't make Him any less faithful. It just means that He had something else better in store for us. And let me take a moment to remind y'all one thing: God's plans are always better.

Has your lack of trust in people caused you to withhold your full self from God? I want to encourage you to spend some time in the Good Book. When we do, we will be better able to know and understand God's character and His promises to us.
