Stand in the Gap

      Numbers 16:47-48

"...The plague had already started among the people, but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. He stood between the living and the dead and the plague stopped."

It's very common in our Christian practice to ask for prayers when we're faced with troubles. If someone gets sick, we pray. If someone gets hurt, we pray. If someone is struggling, we pray. We know that God heals, restores and redeems, but do we realize how crucial it is to pray? And I mean PRAY. In the past, I have been very guilty of saying, "I'll pray for you," or "sending prayers," but leaving it at that. By the time I got a chance to pray, I had already forgotten who or what I was praying for. There may even be times where we feel someone may be, "beyond prayers," so we don't make it a priority to pray for that person. It is extremely important that we pray anyways.

In the Book of Numbers Chapter 16, Moses and Aaron show us just that. After God had made the decision to end the people of Israel for their rebellion, Moses instructed Aaron to offer the incense and ask God to forgive them. Moses and Aaron could've thought, "what's the use? it's too late for them now," but they made it a point to pray anyways. Because they did this, they stood in the gap of the living and the dead and saved Israel. You could be what stands in the gap for someone else. Your prayers could be what saves that person's life, what heals that person, what guides them to redemption. Your prayer could keep the enemy from taking over. You just have to pray anyways!

Who can you pray for today?
