God Will Enable You
Habakkuk 3:19 NIV
“The sovereign Lord is my strength’ he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights.”
When we face trial, we tend to have it in our minds that we can face it on our own. When we look at the mountain we must climb to see our deliverance, we may do one of two things. We may get halfway up the mountain and think, “I can’t go any further. I’ve got to turn back. This is too hard.” Or we may look at the mountain and get entirely too discouraged to start hiking up. A lot of times, too, we may think “where’s God?” or “why me?” This is because we weren’t built for this terrain.
Deer, however, are light on their feet. They were built to tread through the rough wilderness with ease because of the delicate way they move their body. In fact, their hooves alone allow them to run fast and jump at great extremes to get away from predators. Can you imagine a deer taking on a mountain, whilst fleeing an enemy?
Likewise, when you bring God into your trials, he gives you what you need to face that mountain that is before you. He gives you the strength and the ability you need that you couldn’t have gained on your own. He will make your feet like deer and equipped you for the terrain that you will endure. Nothing is going to touch you on your way up. You may run and jump freely without effort, and when you get to the top, you will see that there was no way you could’ve done it on your own.
