A Refuge in Life's Storms
Psalm 46:1-3 NIV
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though it's waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."
As I sit here and type this, I can hear the wind blowing flecks of ice off of my bedroom window. In this moment, I sit in the middle of an ugly winter storm. Fortunately, for myself and my family, we can count on the shelter of our ranch home to protect us from the cold, icy winds. Just like my home provides me shelter and protection in all conditions, our Heavenly Father is our shelter and strength when we are faced with life's storms. Though the ground may be crumbling beneath our feet, we don't have to fear because we will not fall amidst the mountains we are faced with. Because God is our strength and our refuge when we are in trouble, we can stand on solid ground as our mountains are tossed into the ocean and devoured by the roar and foam of the sea. Like the physical shelter you seek in a storm, God will protect you spiritually. You just have to turn to him and trust in him.
