When Life Gives Your Burdens

Psalms 55:22 NIV

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken."

      Life tends to throw burdens our way. It's inevitable. We've all been there a time or two when someone in your life is just being impossible to reason with, when someone is rude and disrespects you, when someone drops an unfair workload on your shoulders, when you've had to do a job or chore repeatedly but no one else will pick up the slack. Left and right, we find ourselves burdened beyond belief. Naturally, we may start to feel discouraged and try to take things into our own hands. However, if we do this, we will find ourselves getting even more frustrated.

      You see when we try to vindicate ourselves, we will either find ourselves settling for mediocre justice or escalating the situation far worse than it needed to be. On the other hand, if we cast our cares (or burdens) on the Lord, he will care for our needs. He will right the wrongs, fix what's broken, and move the mountains out of your path. There is no reason for us to get involved in our turmoil when God can handle it better than we can. If we choose to walk in the light of the Lord and hand over our burdens to him, then he will never allow us to be overcome by our situation. Through him we are unshakeable.
