No One Can Change God's Plan for You

Psalms 56:4 NIV

"In God, whose word I praise-in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?"

Many may not know, but I spent a good chunk of my teenage years, as well as some of my early twenties, struggling with an eating disorder. It wasn't that I got sickly skinny, but I had an obsession with the things I ate and my outward appearance. One pound gained on the scale meant a weeks' worth of little to no food intake. As I got older, I began to obsess over the clothes I wore and how I wore my makeup. I would spend hours in front of the mirror perfecting my look. I did all of this because I wanted to be accepted by people. When I was much younger, I was made fun of for my thick glasses and short, choppy bob. I had bad acne and was much smaller than most in my class. I didn't fit in with the popular girls, and I found myself spending most of my lunch periods eating my brown bag lunch with the chess club (no offense to chess lovers!).

Knowing what I know now, this outlook was silly. If anything, all it did was hinder me from living my life to its fullest. You see, I was afraid of what others might say or do to me because of the way I was treated years ago. However, people's actions and opinions don't change who God has called us to be. He has set a plan for each of our lives uniquely. It is up to us to ignore the naysayers, to ignore the insults, to ignore their efforts to make us look bad and move forward with who GOD says we are. People can be evil, but they are just that: people. When we have the Almighty God on our side, we have nothing to fear. Not a person out there can change what God has in store for us.

Are you allowing people to hinder you from who God has called you to be? Do you trust that God will fight for you?
