The Everlasting Refuge
Psalm 46:1 NIV
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."
I've done many lessons on dark seasons in the last year. It doesn't matter who you are, you can't outrun them. While walking through these dark seasons in life may feel like walking through a hurricane without some sort of shelter, it doesn't have to be that way. God promises to be our strength when we feel like we can't fight our battles anymore. He promises to be our protection through even the strongest of life's storms. It's when we look to the world for strength and protection that we will struggle and fail. You see, the world cannot offer us the things we need to flourish in these storms because the world is ruled by evil. Evil will never prevail over the power of God. Through Christ, evil has been and forever will be defeated once and for all. So, we can scour this world all we want, looking for what it is we need in those moments of trial, but we will never find the protection and the strength that we need that can only come from our Lord. In life's hurricanes, God is our shelter, our protection, our comfort, our strength, our peace, and our hope.
